Update: Energy Bill Requiring MVP Pulled from Vote

Yesterday afternoon, the Energy Independence and Security Act, the reckless bill that required the authorization of the Mountain Valley Pipeline and curtailed public participation in permitting for massive energy projects was decoupled from a Senate vote on the budget.

This last minute move from Senator Manchin reflects the lack of support for his proposal from both sides of the aisle.

While we can breathe a sigh of relief that the EISA won’t be voted on in the short term, we can expect a renewed push for the legislation in the future.

We need to stay vigilant and keep advocating for fair and protective environmental policy!
