“Karen and I have rafted the New and Gauley Rivers several times, and you have a beautiful state. We’ve also paid attention to the environmental challenges West Virginia’s waters have endured, and I wanted to be part of the solution.”

Inspired by his family’s history, Blake established the JB Tollett WV Rivers Fund to support the long-term protection of clean water. He reflects on the wealth his family built through the energy industry and sees his planned gift as a way to give back.

“The extraction of hydrocarbons has led to much of the world’s pollution, and clean, abundant water is essential for our survival. So, I’m paying back.”

For Blake, legacy isn’t just about what we leave behind. It’s about the difference we choose to make.

“We all die. Setting up these endowments is a good thing, both for the beneficiaries and for me.”

Every supporter has their own reason for protecting clean water. Maybe it’s the creek where you learned to fish, the river your family paddles every summer, or simply the belief that future generations deserve healthy rivers and streams.
