Selbyville Underground Injection Well Comments Due THIS Friday

WVDEP is accepting public comments on a fracking waste injection well in Selbyville, WV. We’ve made it easy for you to make your voice heard, click here and send a letter to WVDEP by June 1.

The injection well raises a number of water quality concerns including:

Drinking Water: The injection well is located within a mile upstream of the drinking water protection zone for Buckhannon Water.

Wildlife: The injection well is located 0.25 mile from Alec Run, a native brook trout stream. Brook trout are very sensitive to changes in water quality.

Recent Violation: The company responsible for the well was required to designate stream monitoring points and conduct sampling and analysis at those locations by April 2018. This activity was not accomplished and a violation was issued by DEP.
