WV Climate and Water Webinar Series – Dr. Than Hitt

Dr. Nathaniel (Than) Hitt is a fish biologist with the USGS Leetown Science Center in Kearneysville WV. Dr. Hitt’s research focuses on population and community ecology in Appalachia. His presentation summarizes climate change research for native brook trout conservation, addressing: (a) evidence for stream flow and temperature change over recent decades, (b) ecological mechanisms for fish population responses to flow and temperature change, and (c) on-going research to identify thermal refugia, or temperature refuges, in Appalachian rivers and streams.
