WV is losing critical funding — here’s how you can help.
Federal programs that West Virginians rely on are being frozen — and the impact is already being felt.
Grants supporting clean drinking water, abandoned mine cleanup, PFAS response, flood prediction, and public health have been delayed or cut. Funding for our National Parks is on the line. Americorps, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and EPA’s Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers Program have been gutted.
These cuts have also impacted our work at WV Rivers. A federal grant awarded to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection to create and implement PFAS Action Plans, with WV Rivers as a key partner, was recently canceled. The WVDEP is disputing these unjust cuts, but right now, this means lost jobs and stalled progress in protecting our water.
These aren’t partisan issues — they’re West Virginia issues. Programs at risk include:
- Safe drinking water and wastewater projects
- Restoration of mine lands and trout streams
- PFAS contamination response
- Public health clinics and disaster recovery
- AmeriCorps, EPA, and USGS research jobs
Please note: There are two sets of targets for this Action Alert. One to Senator Justice and Representatives Miller or Moore. The second target goes directly to Senator Capito, who has been a vocal advocate for restoring this funding. Once you fill out and submit your information, you will be redirected to the editable letters you can send to your representatives. If you have any questions, give us a holler!
Thank you for standing with us to protect our water and communities.
