Our 2025 impact — and what’s next for WV clean water and public lands

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to share West Virginia Rivers Coalition’s 2025 Impact Report. This is a look at what we accomplished together this past year and the communities we were able to support across the state.

In 2025, WV Rivers reached more communities than ever before. With your support, we:

  • Expanded our community engagement work and supported more residents organizing around PFAS and other threats to clean water and public lands
  • Strengthened the West Virginia Watershed Network, connecting and supporting local watershed groups doing the on-the-ground work in their communities
  • Grew community water monitoring, including trainings, volunteer surveys, and tools like the WV Stream Watch App that help document pollution and push agencies to respond
  • Showed up for communities facing new and growing industrial threats from data centers to pipeline expansions

This report reflects something we see again and again: when communities have the tools and support they need, they lead — and real change follows.

If you’re able, please consider making a gift today to help us keep showing up in 2026.

Thank you for being part of this work and standing with West Virginians advocating for clean water, public lands, and healthy communities.

With gratitude,
Jennie Smith
