Together, we’re making waves for clean water across West Virginia.
Happy Giving Tuesday! For the past week, WV Rivers has been celebrating this day built on generosity, community, and collective action by leaning into what it truly means to be Together for Clean Water.
We’ve shared stories from communities across West Virginia, friends, neighbors, and volunteers, who work every day to protect and restore the rivers that connect us all. And along the way, we offered opportunities to make a direct impact, helping to fuel these organizations’ ongoing initiatives and support their current needs.
- We highlighted the amazing work of the Warm Springs Watershed Association and how you can help them purchase a new multiparameter water quality meter to strengthen their local water monitoring and community science program.
- We showcased the powerhouse organization that is behind the removal of more than 18,000 tires from the Tug Fork River and how your gift can help Friends of the Tug Fork River and their next round of cleanups.
- We reflected on how Big Laurel Learning Center is inspiring the next generation of stewards through outdoor education and how your support can help deepen a child’s connection to the natural world.
- We shared the inspiring story of Richard Altizer, a community member in Wyoming County, WV who refuses to roll over to clean water injustices within his community, and how you can give the gift of clean water to families who have been without for more than 1000 days.
While these stories all come from different corners of the state, they all share one simple truth: when we invest in people, clean water follows.
And thanks to supporters like you, WV Rivers has been able to do exactly that. Through programs such as our Community Action Mini-Grant Program, you’ve helped us invest over $100,000 in grassroots organizations and movements — funding tools, education programs, and advocacy that build local capacity and foster lasting change.
Whether you choose to give today, tomorrow, or 6 months from now, your gift ensures we can continue investing in the people who make clean water protection possible. And you fuel the very principle that guides our pursuit of clean and healthy West Virginia waters for all: that we are stronger together for clean water.
