You’re Invited: Learn About the Ohio River Basin Restoration & Protection Report
Communities in northern and north central West Virginia are still reeling from recent devastating floods this past weekend. As recovery continues, now is the time to take action to build a more flood-resilient future — for every community in the Ohio River Basin.
One way to support this effort is by joining us in Huntington to learn about and provide feedback on the Ohio River Basin Restoration & Protection Report — a new plan that outlines federal investments needed to protect clean water from toxic pollution, restore ecosystems, increase recreation access, strengthen flood resilience across the region, and more. You can find a fact sheet here.
This plan, which is now out for public comment, will later be delivered to U.S. Congress with the goal of securing long-term investments to implement the restoration and protection solutions proposed in the document.
Developed by the Ohio River Basin Alliance, National Wildlife Federation, and the University of Louisville’s Christina Lee Brown Environme Institute, the plan reflects years of collaboration among scientists, agencies, Tribal partners, community members, and nonprofits — including WV Rivers.
Public comments on the plan are open through July 18, and this in-person session is a key opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and make your voice heard.
