Protect West Virginia’s Drinking Water: Tell Legislators to Keep Category A Protections!
This week, I was at the State Capitol, working on behalf of all West Virginians who rely on clean, safe drinking water. I testified before a legislative committee about a dangerous proposal that could remove protections from our rivers and streams — putting our water supplies at risk.
During the hearing, industry representatives openly admitted that their goal is to weaken water quality regulations. If this amendment passes, it could remove certain “Category A” drinking water protections from rivers and streams across the state.
These protections have been in place since 1967, ensuring that our waters remain safe sources of drinking water. Now, some legislators want to change that — without public input or full consideration of the consequences.
We need your voice to stop this. Legislators must hear from their constituents that we DO NOT want industry to discharge more pollutants into our waters.
It only takes a minute, and you can personalize your message to make an even greater impact.
Thank you for speaking up for West Virginia’s water and our communities.
With gratitude,
Jennie Smith
