Deny MVP’s Request to Put the Pipeline “In-Service”

We’re reaching out with an urgent request for 500 community signers to help protect public health and our environment from the Mountain Valley Pipeline’s destruction.

MVP is seeking FERCs permission to put the pipeline “In-Service” before the end of May, and we’re about to submit a letter to the docket telling FERC officials that West Virginians do not want the permission granted.

Appalachians are no strangers to pipeline explosions — our hills and hollers, which are made up of steep slopes and highly erodible soils, are susceptible to landslides and flooding.

In 2012, a pipeline exploded in Kanawha, and then in 2018, another exploded in Marshall County.

We’re not the only ones concerned about the risks MVP poses. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a safety order and consent agreement with developers, but those requirements have still not been met.

We’re asking for 500 sign-ons from coalition members like you to co-sign the letter WV Rivers will submit to the docket on Monday at 3 PM.
