Action Alert: Comment on Pipeline Stream Crossing Permit by 7/27

An important permit that regulates pipeline construction in streams and wetlands needs your comments! Let the Army Corps of Engineers know that you want streams protected from pipeline constructionComments are due July 27.Comment here.

Last year, WV Rivers and our partners called into question the validity of this permit for the Mountain Valley Pipeline and the Atlantic Coast Pipeline when we discovered it was not in compliance with the permit requirements established by the WVDEP. A judge agreed with WV Rivers and the permit was suspended and later vacated by the Army Corps, effectively halting pipelines from crossing streams.

The WVDEP is now attempting to change the permit requirements, in a way that makes it easier for pipeline companies to meet the permit conditions. Unfortunately, these modifications sacrifice protections for our streams.

Now, the Army Corps of Engineers is deciding whether they should approve WVDEP’s permit modifications.

Your comments are urgently needed! Let the Army Corps know that you oppose WVDEP’s proposed modifications. Comments are due July 27.
