West Virginia’s Gauley River National Recreation Area is home to some of the best whitewater rafting in the world. Boaters converge on the Gauley River for the legendary fall releases, culminating this weekend in “Gauley Fest.” But the public wouldn’t be able to enjoy the Gauley River without the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Over $7 million in LWCF funding was used to purchase access in the National Recreation Area, including put-in and take-out points along the river at Mason Branch and Woods Ferry
