Learn to Monitor Water Quality Along Pipelines – Free Workshop

Volunteer Training in Marlinton, WV — Saturday, May 5

West Virginia Rivers Coalition and Trout Unlimited will be hosting a free day-long volunteer water quality monitoring training on Saturday, May 5, from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm in Marlinton, WV.

During the training, volunteers will learn to effectively monitor water quality on high priority streams along proposed pipeline routes. The workshop is limited to 20 people. Volunteers who can visit streams at least once a month and after significant rain events before, during, and after pipeline construction are encouraged to apply.

The WV/VA Water Quality Monitoring Program is a program developed by Trout Unlimited that is being implemented by Trout Unlimited and the West Virginia Rivers Coalition to train volunteers to monitor streams for impacts from shale gas and pipeline-related development and other sources of nonpoint pollution. Appalachian Voices has partnered with Trout Unlimited and West Virginia Rivers Coalition to organize this training session.
